3 new drinks to try with saffron

Introducing some of our favourite drinks to make with our Krokos Kozanis PDO saffron, they are easy to make and are packed with lots of natural goodness for our wellbeing. 

In these recipes, we recommend Krokos Kozanis PDO greek saffron stigma or powder based on your preference. Do note that, saffron stigma takes longer time to infuse the full flavours while saffron powder infuses instantly.

Saffron Lemonade

Best to serve at any parties!


  • 6 cups water, + extra for saffron
  • 3-1/2 cups superfine sugar
  • 2 cups lemon juice
  • 2 quarts ice cubes
  • Krokos Kozanis PDO Greek red saffron (stigma/powder)
  • 8 oz. Vodka may be added to make this an alcoholic drink


  1. Bring the water to a full boil in a pot and set aside.
  2. Melt the sugar without any water over high heat in a saucepan. 
  • It's important to carefully watch the sugar; as soon as the edges of the pan start caramelizing, immediately lower the heat to medium-low. Gently move the saucepan in circles. Do not stir. Lower the heat to the lowest setting when there are only a few remaining non-caramelized pieces. You want a very light amber colour.
  • Remove from the heat when all the sugar is an amber colour and let it sit for a minute (be careful of splattering when the water is added).
  • Slowly add the boiling water. Then simmer the liquid until all the caramel is dissolved.
  • Add the saffron to the sweetened liquid. Let it cool completely.
  • Add the lemon juice.
  • Stir well and serve.

    Saffron Water

    Your daily boost to kickstart the day!


    • Krokos Kozanis PDO Greek red saffron (stigma/powder)
    • Water (warm/room temperature)


    1. Add saffron into a cup of water.
    2. Stigma saffron: Infusion takes approximately 15 - 20 minutes 
    3. Powder Saffron: instant infusion 
    4. Stir well and serve.

    If you’re using powder saffron, the infusion is instant.  If you’re using stigma, it may take slightly longer to infuse the flavour and aroma. Enjoy!

    Saffron Golden Milk

    Get a good night sleep after drinking this! 


    • 1 cup milk (Use any milk of your choice)
    • Krokos Kozanis PDO Greek red saffron (stigma/powder)
    • Optional (recommended for spice lovers):
      • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
      • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
      • 1 pinch ground black pepper


    1. Add saffron into a cup of milk (warm or cold)
    2. Stir well and serve (if served on cold milk, do give a longer infusion)
    3. Optional: Add turmeric, ginger, black pepper, cardamom, stir until combined.

    *For stronger flavours, heat milk with the ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until flavours blend for 3-5 minutes.
