Description
Premium Honey “Vanilla Fir” is the only Greek honey produced from the rare black fir trees of Mount Mainalo in Arcadia, Peloponnese. Vanilla fir honey is harvested between early May and mid-July and is well known for its taste and low sugar concentration. This particular variety is certified organic, it does not come out in large quantities every year and is considered a very rare variety. That is why Fir Vanilla honey has been granted Protected Designation of Origin.

It also has a much lower level of sugars than other honeys, being particularly low in glucose meaning it usually never crystallises.
Fir tree honey is known as a honeydew, because it is from the sap and resin of the tree not from flower nectar. Honeydews are high in oligosaccharides, which are known for their prebiotic qualities- aiding digestion.
Flavour : Vanilla Fir honey Vanilla fir is a thick, earthy, which has a flavour with hints of vanilla and caramel.
Colour : Light when runny, with shades of pearl or caramel.
Where it comes from : The fir forests of Mount Mainalon in the Peloponnese in the region of Arcadia, no where else in the world. This is where the rare Black Fir tree grows, at an altitude of nearly 2000m.
